Dominican Republic : Refund of the tourist card

It is now possible to request a refund for tourist cards that have not been used from the General Directorate of Internal Taxes of the Dominican Republic (DGII). The professionals concerned – and also the private individuals – have 90 days to do the process.
Requests for reimbursement of unused tourist cards can be made between 15 May and 12 August 2019 to the offices of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes of the Dominican Republic via the forms that the Tourist Office makes available to interested parties (travel agencies, tour operators, airlines and individuals – the latter must do so with the body that issued them the card -).
Since April 2018, the tourist card, which was mandatory to enter the country as a tourist, has been replaced by an equivalent head tax of US$10, which is included in the price of air tickets and cruises.
