297 million trips


China recorded 297 million air passenger trips in the first half of 2018, a 12.4% year-on-year increase.

The country’s air cargo trade reached over 3.55 million tonnes during the same period, representing year-on-year growth of 6.4% for the first half of 2018.

So far, passenger air traffic volume has represented 31% of the country’s overall transport system, an increase of 2 percentage points on an annual basis.

At the end of June, the punctuality rate of flights in China was 79.52%, representing an annual growth of 8.33 percentage points, while the country’s air volume increased by 8.38% compared to the first half of 2017.

China recorded 549 million air passenger trips and 7.12 million tonnes of air freight in 2017, an annual increase of 12.6% and 6.6% respectively.

The number of air passenger trips in China is expected to reach 612 million in 2018, an annual growth of 11%.
