Bring in more tourists : Tanzania plans to make its beaches more attractive

In Tanzania, beaches will now have a beach management authority for the development of beach tourism in this East African country.

Beach tourism is not developed in the country despite its enormous potential. In order to encourage the country’s economy, Tanzania has decided that strong strategies should be adopted in order to effectively explore the available potential of seaside tourism.

The beach management authority would be responsible for managing and improving conditions on all beaches to attract more tourists and investors.

In Tanzania, the tourism industry has been one of the fastest growing sectors in the country, with statistics showing an increase in the number of tourists, says a report released in June 2017.

In 2016, at least 1.2 million tourists visited Tanzania compared to 1.1 million in 2015, an increase of 12%.

Since 2012, tourism has been Tanzania’s main source of foreign exchange, contributing an average of $2 billion per year, or 25% of the country’s total foreign exchange earnings, according to government statistics.
