Norwegian Cruise Line announced yesterday that its latest ship, the Norwegian Encore, has successfully completed an important milestone in its construction by leaving its dry dock for the first time from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
Norwegian Encore will remain in the shipyard’s port for its final phase of construction, before being transported along the Ems River to the North Sea at the end of September. With a length of more than 335 metres, a gross tonnage of nearly 170,000 tons and a capacity of just under 4,000 passengers, the vessel will be delivered to the cruise line on October 30. He will be baptized in Miami on November 21 and will begin his seven-day itineraries in the Caribbean on November 24.
The Norwegian Encore will take it to the next level and offer a higher level among the brand’s exclusive and exceptional attractions.
It will feature the world’s longest offshore race track (335 metres) with four high-speed turns extending up to 4 metres above the ship’s edge; the largest outdoor laser game arena on nearly 930 square metres with the addition of augmented reality elements; as well as a new immersive escape room and interactive theatre experiences in the Galaxy Hall on nearly 1000 square metres.
In addition to the many high-end restaurants and spaces that have made Breakaway Plus one of the company’s most innovative and attractive, Norwegian Encore will launch a new high-end Italian culinary experience, Onda by Scarpetta, in collaboration with LDV Hospitality.
In addition, the Tony Award® winning musical « Kinky Boots » will be one of the in-flight entertainment stars, sharing the bill with the hit shows « The Choir of Man », « Happy Hour Prohibition : The Musical » and the Beatles’ cover band, The Cavern Club.
Starting this fall, Norwegian Encore will offer seven-day cruises to the Eastern Caribbean from Miami, starting November 24, 2019, then routes to Bermuda, Canada and New England from New York, starting April 22, 2020; trips to the Western Caribbean from Miami, starting December 12, 2020 and then in the spring of 2021, it will make its debut on the west coast of the United States and leave Seattle for Alaska.
