From Beijing to Monaco via the Pharaohs

Sylvie Biancheri, Director General of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, revealed the attendance figures for the major summer exhibition in Monaco « The Gold of the Pharaohs »; with 80,000 visitors, it is the second highest attendance for an exhibition of the Grimaldi Forum since its opening in 2000, better than « The Queens of Egypt » which had welcomed 73,000 visitors in 2008. …Egypt remains a must for the Grimaldi Forum. The media coverage was also significant internationally, making Monaco a cultural « spot » during the summer.
The next summer exhibition in 2019 should also make the « front page » since it will be dedicated to : Salvador Dali.
As part of a 2019 year that will see the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the artist’s death and the centenary of his first exhibition, the exhibition event will feature more than 50 paintings and 30 drawings dated from 1910 to 1983.
At the same time, the Grimaldi Forum will host a second exhibition with the Chaumet jewellery house, a historical ally of the royal courts, will be honoured with a series of precious objects, including several historical diadems.
The curator of the exhibition will be Stéphane Bern who advised the teams for the exhibition dedicated to the Prince of Monaco Dynasty currently on display at the Forbidden City in Beijing. It welcomes 10,000 visitors per day.
