In Ethiopia, the e-Visa replaces the consular tourist visa

As of today, Ethiopian consular authorities no longer issue tourist visas requiring an electronic visa.

The Ethiopian consular authorities inform us that as of today, they only issue visas, on passports, business and diplomatic visas, thus inviting applicants for other types of visas, including tourist visas, to apply for an e-Visa. After Benin, Uganda and the Sultanate of Oman, it is therefore Ethiopia’s turn to stop the consular issuance of tourist visas in favour of the functional electronic visa since last year.

Tourists, or business travellers because the system has been offering professional e-Visas for a few weeks, can therefore apply for their visa online at the government link : https://www.evisa.gov.et

As a reminder, the Ethiopian e-Visa is obtained within a maximum announced period of three working days, its validity begins on the date indicated on the application (and not from its date of issue), it must be paid online and its cost depends on the validity and type of visa desired.
