At least three people died yesterday Sunday, July 28 during a shooting during a food festival in Gilroy, south of San Francisco, California. Many others were injured, according to local media reports.
The shooter was shot dead, police announced the next day, Monday, July 29. « Police officers were in the area and located in less than a minute the suspect who was targeted and killed, » the local police chief told reporters, adding that searches were still ongoing to find a possible accomplice.
NBC News reported the testimony of a woman, Julissa Contreras, who said she saw a white man in his thirties open fire with a gun.
« I could see him shooting in all directions. It was not aimed at anyone in particular. It was just from left to right, right to left, » she said. « He was obviously prepared for what he was doing. »
