Vietnam recorded a 30 % increase in the number of tourists visiting the country in 2017. In concrete terms, this is about 12.9 million tourists, a real record. Switzerland has also been more numerous: with more than 33,000 admissions, an increase of 5%. But these figures are expected to rise further since Edelweiss plans two weekly flights (read, I) to Ho Chi Minh City from November 15.
However, the largest emitting market remains China with over 4 million visitors in 2017. Korea occupies the second place (2.4 million visitors), followed by Japan (almost 800,000 visitors). In total, Vietnam totals more than
9.7 million arrivals from Asian markets.
Europe is also an important market with 1.8 million visitors (+16.6%). The Russians count for a great with 574’000 arrivals. These good results can certainly be explained by the simplification of entry procedures.
Since 2017, 46 countries can apply for an e-visa with a simpler and faster procedure.
