Peru to host the Pan American Games this summer

From July 26 to September 1, the Pan American and Para-Pan American Games will be held in the city of Lima

A global sporting event

6,680 athletes from 41 countries will participate in this new edition of the Pan American Games. This year, two new sports will be added to the 37 already existing: bodybuilding and surfing. The Para-Pan American Games will bring together a record 1,890 athletes from 33 different countries. Athletes will compete across 17 disciplines, making it one of the largest Paralympic sporting events of all time.

Website dedicated to the event and tourism promotion

On this occasion, Promperú – the Peruvian export and tourism promotion organization – launched a website dedicated to the Pan American Games, www.peru.travel/lima2019/en, with the aim of promoting the destination and informing travellers about the event. Available in English and Spanish, the site provides information on Peru’s main tourist destinations.

International visitors will be able to benefit from special offers, with more than 50 tours, offered by 23 tour operators, to 11 regions of Peru. These offers are made possible thanks to the cooperation and joint work of Peruvian tour operators and tourism associations (APOTUR, ASOTUR, APAVIT).
