St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has just announced the opening of The St. Regis Venice, located a few steps from Piazza San Marco and bordering the largest canal in Venice.
The opening follows two years of complete renovation to restore the grandeur of the former Grand Hotel Britannia, opened in 1895. The hotel combines its historical heritage with the modern design and tailor-made service of the St. Regis brand through a unique collection of five Venetian palaces, the oldest of which dates back to the 17th century.
The spacious and intimate garden isolates the hotel and makes it an ideal refuge where guests and residents alike can enjoy breathtaking views of the Grand Canal.
St Regis Venice has 129 rooms and 40 suites, a third of which overlook the property’s lush gardens and the Grand Canal. Following a complete restoration, each room has been meticulously furnished in order to preserve the building’s artistic and cultural heritage.
Inspired by the Venetian works of art of Claude Monet, impressionist painter and former guest of the place, the interior of the refined rooms features a distinctive palette of colours that embodies the play of light from dawn to dusk.
The design of the public spaces pays tribute to Carlo Scarpa, one of Venice’s greatest artists and architects.
